Build your question sheet
A licence is legal permission to practise a health profession. Ask which profession the person belongs to, then check their full name with its Arizona board.
MD and DO are two kinds of doctors. Nurse practitioners have further nursing training in assessing and treating patients. A physician assistant, or PA, has a separate professional licence and board. Ask the appropriate board whether the named person has permission to prescribe your medicine.
A pharmacy’s permit is its legal permission to operate. Ask for the pharmacy’s exact name and check its permit with Arizona’s Pharmacy Board.
Questions are ready to take with you.
Ask for a plain answer when words get technical
It is fine to ask what a word means. Try: ‘What does that mean for the choice I am making?’
Ask for the product name, plan and charges in writing. Then compare the answers with what you were offered.
Make room to think
You can ask to discuss the plan again after reading it. If a question is unanswered, keep it on the sheet.
Use the briefings below to make sense of the words in the reply.
